In a tradition that is now commonplace Lionsgate Films (SAW franchise) has secured the film rights to the newly released video game Dead Island. Lionsgate says they are basing the movie off of the initial teaser trailer which was pretty spectacular. While a lot of video-game films tend to not be the greatest, I do like this idea of using the trailer as a jump off point since the trailer had some of the most intense emotions for any type of trailer (movie or video-game) done in a long time. If a good screenwriter can work off of that material it could be a really good movie, here’s to keeping my fingers crossed.
