So today was the Microsoft’s reveal of their next generation console. They finally dropped the name on us, its going to be the Xbox One. Here are our reactions:
- Kinect 2 has better body recognition – which is great but that doesn’t mean that its going to be great for smaller spaces.
- 1080 HD
- 30 FPS
- Time of Flight technology (whatever that means?)
- Mic arrays
- upgrades to camera
- The console itself looks like a TIVO box, you guys remember what that is right? A plus side, you won’t have to be always online.
- 8 Core CPU
- 8 gigs memory
- 500 gig HDD
- Blu-Ray
- WiFi
- HDMI In/Out
- USB 3.0
- Controller seems the same but according the presser there were 40 upgrades made to the controller
- Integrated battery
- Precision D-pad
- Their quote about saying that the console is going to be LAG FREE confused us. I think they mean OS wise and not internet wise, because if they are saying its LAG FREE I can not believe that.
- Revamping of the achievements system, but I’ve heard that you will not be able to transfer your gamerscore.
- Not backward compatible – that sucks.
- When you install a game, it connects to your Xbox Live account. You can connect it to a second account, but you’ll have to pay a fee. In other words, the traditional concept of “used games” is obsolete for Xbox One.
Questions that are still unanswered:
- Price Point?
- Service Price Point?
- Bundles?
- Is the HDD is removable? (Highly doubtful)
I guess we’re going to have to wait til E3 to find out the main points of the Xbox One. However if we get more information about the Xbox One we will totally post it!
