Review: Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures

I have to say that I’m a little bias to begin with, I love Cooking Mama.  So with that said, I was already in love with the game before even knowing what it was about.  However when I finally got to play it this weekend it was completely the opposite of what I expected.  This time around Majesco made the Camping Mama series so much better than Cooking Mama!

Read on to see how my outdoor adventures went.

Camping Mama is best described as a casual RPG, with a top down view.  Most of the games that are in Camping Mama are things that haven’t been seen before in the other Cooking Mama series.  However there are some minigames that I’ve seen before like the crafting ones.  Each area has mini stages where you have to navigate through to complete mini games and find treasures before locating either Mama or Papa.  Your gold medals are based off all the things on the map, unlike before where it was just based on the task at hand.  I like this approach because it makes you want to explore the map, but keep in mind that if you mess up on one of the tasks, say the last one, you have to do the whole map over.  The mini tasks is in the map are re-playable, so you can play them over and over before doing the last “main” task.

All and all Camping Mama is a great game, but of course there are its downfalls.  One of the traps on the map is just ridiculous and I found myself getting stuck because of tornadoes or falling in the water and starting all the way at the beginning of the map, which was not cool.  Minigame wise all them were a lot of fun. I’d have to say Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures is a BUY if you looking for a change in the Cooking Mama series.
