Gamescom 2011: Silent Hill HD Collection News & Video

There’s a lot of Silent Hill news coming out of Gamescon today. Right now let’s focus on the HD remakes of Silent Hill 2 & 3 for the Silent Hill HD Collection. Apparently internet petitions do work once in a while because  thanks to many fan pleas to Konami, the previously PS3 exclusive HD collection will now be released on the XBOX 360 as well. Way to go team!

The next bit of news comes from Producer Tom Hulett that the voice acting for the HD collection was redone with new voice actors, which can be heard in the video below. There’s a lot of negative fan reaction right now from what I’ve seen on forums but personally I think the voice acting sounds fine. In the video some of the voices loses some sync with the game footage but I feel confident that will be fixed before release. If you close your eyes and listen I think they sound good.

As big of a Silent Hill fan that I am I’ve come to terms with the fact that anything new or redone is not going to be as perfect as the original games. If there’s anything I know for certain is that if I don’t like this HD remake I will always have the original versions of the games and nothing is ruined for me. At the end of the day I will still love Silent Hill. So with that said I direct you to view the video below and make your own opinions on what you hear.
