Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Details Revealed, Beta June 28th

Looks like Naughty Dog is planning on making not only the single player experience amazing for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception but they are really packing a punch on the multiplayer side of the game.

Looking to drastically improve upon the multiplayer experience from Uncharted 2, the Naughty Dog crew laid out some of the details on what U3’s multiplayer mode will bring:

  • Major improvements to the new maps including a “two leveled” map called “The Airstrip” where the first part of the map takes place on moving vehicles that are chasing a cargo plane while it’s taking off! The second part of the map is in an airplane hangar that has a more traditional map layout with fighter planes firing on the map at random moments.
  • While traditional competitive modes (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Free-for-all) will be available they have come up with a new Deathmatch type called Three Team Deathmatch which consists of three teams of two (2 vs. 2 vs. 2) .
  • A much needed improved matchmaking system will be in place to make getting into MP matches much easier. Along with that they have included a feature called “Late Join” which lets you join into a match with a friend who is currently playing instead of waiting for them to finish, barring there is room to join in.
  • If you have a friend that is actually in your home and wants to play with you there will be split-screen as well as the ability to let that friend SIGN IN ON THEIR OWN PSN ACCOUNT!
  • Another new feature that was shown is customization. We are talking about customizing your character, your weapons, your multiplayer emblem card, even using said emblem into the MP environments.
  • Boosters will also return with old and new ones available as well as the ability to “purchase” special Boosters.
  • Multiplayer will have MAJOR Facebook & YouTube integration. Players will get to post screenshots, video clips to Facebook or whole matches to YouTube. FB friends who for example “Like” a post of what you did in Uncharted 3 may get an in-game prize. Any game updates from friends, like a video clip, that have been posted on Facebook can be view from within the Uncharted 3 multiplayer menu.

WHEW!!! That was a lot of info, and that’s just a tease of whats to come. Apparently more details have yet to be announced but the ND crew has really stepped up their multiplayer game. But if you wanna get a taste of all the Uncharted 3 MP goodness look out for the Beta that will be available to PlayStation Plus members & those that buy Infamous 2 on June 28th. In the meantime check out the Multiplayer trailer as well as some screenshots in out gallery below.
