Marvel vs Capcom 2 Announced

Yes you read it right, Marvel vs Capcom 2 will be released again with 56 characters such as Ryu, Iron Man, Wolverine and Mega Man on iOS devices. After seeing how much success they had with the game being rereleased on PSN and XBLA as well as the success of Street Fighter 4 on iOS. It seems like a good decision to put the popular fighter on the iOS platform.

The game is pretty much the same, it features the “Variable System” which will allow players to switch between characters on their team. This system is very unique to the game, it is also very key to pull of some of the most powerful attacks as well as Team Hyper Combo’s. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is set to hit the App Store April 25th.

God of War: Ascension Trailer

By Zeus’ beard! A new God of War game is coming out for the PlayStation 3, not that it’s a big surprise. There were rumors of this game a few months ago but now we have an official announcement accompanied by a sexy trailer. There isn’t any gameplay in this trailer, but there are some cool effects with blood which is Kratos’ favorite medium to paint the walls of Olympus with. The trailer suggests that this game will take place during the time when Kratos was still mortal and hadn’t betrayed Ares. Not much else was revealed but more info on the game is going to be announced on April 30th, but until then drool over this trailer.

PAX East 2012: Mortal Kombat (PS Vita)

We got to play the Vita version of MK, let’s just say that its not a straight port, which is what I thought it was going to be.  NetheRealms has added a bunch of cool features for the Vita version, like a whole bunch of new Bonus Challenge Tower features, and some really cool backgrounds.  I got to mess with the Bonus Challenge Tower stuff, I’m not Reo or CD Jr. but I thought that I would have been able to do them but I was sadly mistaken.  They were pretty hard, especially the fight against Barack where you have to wipe the blood from your screen while you play!  If you have a Vita you should consider getting MK for it cause its pretty fun.  Not to mention there is a pretty cool easter egg in the game!

Original Max Payne 3 Comics

Rockstar announced that they are going to be releasing a 3-part original Max Payne 3 comic series created in partnership with Marvel Custom Solutions – to be released as a digital graphic novel and in limited print editions. Written by Dan Houser and Remedy’s Sam Lake, and featuring cover art from Greg Horn and pencils and inks by Fernando Blanco, this original Max Payne 3 comic series will delve into Max’s troubled past – exploring the events that occurred in and around both Max Payne and Max Payne 2, leading up to Max Payne 3 while also shedding new light on Max’s early years.

Look for Issue #1: ”After the Fall” to be released in the next few weeks for free via the Rockstar Newswire, the Max Payne 3 Official Site and additional digital comic channels. Stay tuned for more updates.

Sounds like a good comics in the works, even if its only 3 parts.

PAX East 2012: Max Payne 3

Now when I was younger and the Max Payne series came out, I was not much of a fan. It was because I felt that “Bullet Time” was being over used, kinda like what happened to every shooting game that came out after The Matrix. I felt like this third Max Payne 3 was going to use this tired feature and that it wouldn’t be original. Walking out of this game demonstration, I erased all my pre-conceived notions about ” Bullet Time” and watched as Alexis played the game.  Her method of playing is like watching a honey badger, she doesn’t give a f*#k and plays like a bat out of hell with a gun, which is great for Max Payne.  The game plays with a combination of a lot of runnin’ and gunnin’ mixed in with duck and cover (something Alexis does not believe in). While watching her play the cover system kept reminding me of the cover system in Red Dead Redemption but it’s better. The cover system in RDR allowed you to cover all day and the AI wouldn’t be able to kill you, they were kinda dumb. However in Max Payne 3, while cover helps you have to try not to stay in it too long because the enemies will come for you. You can use “Bullet Time” to slow down the gun battles so that you can kill multiple enemies which is just as amazing as it sounds.

While watching the wife struggle a bit on a level in Brazil with a bunch of semi automatic wielding baddies, I decided to take control. Aiming is similar to the shooting mechanics in  previous releases of Rockstar games. In Red Dead Redemption that Auto lock was perfect, and so it makes a return in MP3. Auto lock is there for the players who just wanna breeze through the game or you can go for a challenge and use free aim. Each level that we saw was filled with so much detail and the NPC’s are quite intelligent. Different enemies use different tactics, for example the lower level thugs carry hand guns and small SMG’s, meanwhile the Brazilian militant groups have body armor and fully automatic guns.

As for multiplayer all that we got out of them was that the Crews that you create on the Rockstar Social Club will carry over into Max Payne and into future Rockstar games. One of the cool Crew features is called Gang War where your crew can go up against another crew. The more kills you get on someone will trigger a rivalry between the two crews. These rivalries can be tracked on the Social Club. These crews can also carry over into GTA V when its released. This was all the info we could get out of presenter about the multiplayer aspect of the game but so far it sounds like a blast.

With a release date set for May 15th, we all can get our hands on this very soon. From what we played, it’s going to be a fantastic game. Just keep an eye out for more news and a review fairly soon.

PAX East 2012: Mark of the Ninja

This game is fucking cool! The best way to describe this game is a 2D stealth game.  Although I don’t like stealth games, I did like Mark of the Ninja, because you don’t always have to play stealthy as long as you can get the objectives done.  You play as a ninja who bears a tattoo whose ink bestows heightened senses, but at a terrible a cost.  Your foes are simple but you have tools, like blow darts, firecrackers, grappling hooks and so on, everything to kill your opponents quickly and quietly.  I seriously can’t wait for this to come out!!

Mark of the Ninja is out on Xbox Live Arcade this Summer 2012.

PAX East 2012: Theatrhythm

I am a fan of rhythm games, if you didn’t know already.  So when SquareEnix announced that they were doing a rhythm game I was very excited to say the least.  If you don’t know from all the posts about Theatrhythm, it is a rhythm game with RPG gameplay.  At first I wasn’t sure about it but then after playing it I am in love, with the art style and of course the music.  The best part about this game is the fact that it has most of the songs from all the Final Fantasy games, and you can pick and choose the songs that you want to play.  There is also talks about having DLC for more songs, so don’t worry if you’re song is not on the game at launch it will come afterwards!!
