Sony Computer Entertainment is getting involved in the relief efforts for Japan by offering PlayStation 3 owners the opportunity to donate through the PlayStation Store. Starting today gamers can go in the store and donate $2, $5,$10, $25, or $50 from their PSN Wallet to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake & Pacific Tsunami Fund. All the proceeds go to the fund and as a thank you contributors receive a free XMB Theme (pictured above). So if you got a couple of bucks to spare and you wanna help fire up your PlayStation and look for the “AID JAPAN” section in the PlayStation Store.

Things We’re Diggin’: Amy Ahlstrom-Urban Quilter

Now these are some pretty snazzy quilts. Crating quilts aren’t usually considered to be cool but Amy Ahlstrom has certainly done a good job of making them awesome. Check out some of her urban/graffiti inspired quilts below and on her site.

Things We’re Diggin’: Scott Campbell’s ‘Noblesse Oblige’

Artist Scott Campbell has made a name for himself with his amazingly beautiful sculptures carved out of money and now he is debuting his work in Los Angeles this weekend. Noblesse Oblige is Campbell’s new show opening on March 19th at  OHWOW Gallery where he will be showing off more of his money carvings as well as work done in other mediums including drawings done with graphite on the inside of an ostrich eggshell. This sounds like a pretty awesome show that should not be missed if you live in the L.A. region.

LOLZ…Kinect Becomes Self-Aware

When I first played Dance Central on the Microsoft Kinect I thought this is a really cool gadget. But then when I saw that sensor following my every move all I could think of was Judgment Day when Skynet and the robots would rule the planet. The genius’ at College Humor are on the same page with me. Be forewarned people.

‘Silent Hill’ Alumni Return for Movie Sequel

Wow! This new casting news is pretty surprising but it’s not completely unwelcomed (at least not from me). Producers Don Carmody and Samuel Hadida have announced that Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean and Deborah Kara Unger are returning for Silent Hill: Revelations to reprise their roles as Rose, Christopher, and Dahlia respectively. Their casting shines some more light on how this movie will blend the events of the first film with the plot of the third game. Oh and if you don’t know the plot of the new film here’s a little refresher:

For years, Heather Mason (Clemens) and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.

Davis Films have also released a photo from the set of the film featuring Mitchell as Rose (seen above). All this news is making me antsy for some kind of teaser trailer. Come on people momma needs her Silent Hill fix!

PAX EAST 2011: Outland

Not much is known about the upcoming Ubisoft title Outland other than it’s going to be a downloadable game on the PSN/XBL/PC and it’s made by the studio, Housemarq, that did Super Startust HD. From the new video shown at PAX it does look pretty cool. We’ll keep our ears & eyes open for more info about this game.

PAX EAST 2011: Call of Juarez: The Cartel

Ubisoft showed off some new screens and footage for the latest in the Call of Juarez series. “The Cartel” is being billed as a modern day first person western shooter. From the looks of the video the police aren’t exactly angels, it should make for an interesting game. Check out the gallery for some gun totting action!

Kick Some Criminal Ass in Batman: Arkham City on October 18th

One of my most anticipated games this year is Batman: Arkham City and with the news of the release date announced, October 18th is going to be a long arduous wait. Batman: Arkham Asylum was a masterpiece and this sequel just looks to deliver more of the awesomeness that was in the first game with more badassery stuffed in it if that is even possible. This game looks so good I have to make up new adjectives to describe how amazing this game is going to be. I’ll just stop now and let you guys look at some very drool inducing screen shots of the game.
