Toy Fair 2012: Kotobukiya

Kotobukiya has the word ‘Craftsmanship’ above it’s name and it is a well deserved description of the work they put into their product. From their frighteningly detailed Yoshimitu statue all the way down to their line of genre related ice cube trays you will find some amazing pieces from Kotobukiya. Check out some of the new stuff Koto was showing at this years Toy Fair in the gallery below. My favorite piece? The ‘Alien’ Facehugger chopsticks…MUST. HAVE. NOW.

Toy Fair 2012: Planet Obo

Checked out this booth, Planet Obo.  It was an interesting approach to smaller collectible toys.  I could see this more as a desk item, not sure if it could grow into say the Munny franchise, but its a cool idea.  They are little creatures, Obos, that live on the Planet Obo, They all have different characteristics and pieces.  Basically you get these little dudes and the box is the actual toy, so its super cheap packaging.  There are a bunch of Obos to choose from, 6 total.  I can’t wait for them to finally start producing and distributing them!

Check out more information here on their Kickstarter.

I’m 34 years old yet I was bopping to this song like I was 5 again. I’ve had this song stuck in my head for days, but not in a bad way. These guys just know how to turn a simple lesson like color theory into a fun, rockin’ learning experience! Check it out.

Lollipop Chainsaw Pre-Order Bonus Costumes

Hail to the Queen baby! If you are going to have a chainsaw, and use it to slice up the undead then you have to have the proper attire. If you go to select retailers and pre-order Lollipop Chainsaw, you can get one of five special outfits to dress Juliet in while she slaughters some undead meat sacks. My favorite outfit is a homage to one of my favorite films, Ash from ‘The Evil Dead’ (available at Gamestop). The other outfits are a ‘Rockabilly’ outfit (from Amazon.com) which kinda looks like Betty Page, ‘Foxy Funk’ outfit (from Best Buy) with a Golden Afro, ‘Goth Girl’ (also from Best Buy) for the emo inclined, and a “Jimmy Urine” outfit (also available at Gamestop for Power-Up Members) in honor of the lead singer of  the band Mindless Self Indulgence who has provided music for the game and voices a character as well. I’m not sure if the outfits give you special perks but they look cool as hell. Check out the video and pictures below.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Flim To Have World Wide Release

In a surprising turn of events the infamous Japanese director of the upcoming Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney film, Takashi Miike has announced that the video game to film adaptation will be recieving a world wide release as well as localized subtitles and audio dubs. It’s an unusual move but at recent screenings of the film, despite the film being subtitled and it being based off a game, it appeared to have been enjoyed by the diverse audience so it could do well when it hits the US. So far the film looks just as quirky and fun as the games so this could be a surprise hit. The film hits theaters in Japan February 11th, no US release date has been announced yet.
