PAX East 2012: Theatrhythm

I am a fan of rhythm games, if you didn’t know already.  So when SquareEnix announced that they were doing a rhythm game I was very excited to say the least.  If you don’t know from all the posts about Theatrhythm, it is a rhythm game with RPG gameplay.  At first I wasn’t sure about it but then after playing it I am in love, with the art style and of course the music.  The best part about this game is the fact that it has most of the songs from all the Final Fantasy games, and you can pick and choose the songs that you want to play.  There is also talks about having DLC for more songs, so don’t worry if you’re song is not on the game at launch it will come afterwards!!

PAX East 2012: Dungeon Overlord

Tanya and I are not fans of Facebook games. We’re not even going to lie about it, we both hate it when people send us a shit load of invites to games like that are not even that good. So when we got to the Dungeon Overlord we didn’t even know that it was a Facebook game. It was only after we were at the booth and well into the interview that we were surprised to found out that it was a Facebook game. So what is Dungeon Overlord?

PAX East 2012: Ash II: Shadows

Me and Tanya got to check out this cool iOS game that was published by Konami, it’s called Ash II: Shadows.  It’s really cool that they got picked up by Konami to publish their latest game, Ash II, which is going to series of games.  Basically when you get the Gold version of the game, you get ALL future downloadable chapters for FREE!

A little background about the game,

Ash has been available on iOS since November 2010, winning numerous awards and distinctions since its original release. For its one-year anniversary, and to celebrate the impending release of Ash II: Shadows, we released a total reskin ofAsh as a free update in December 2011. Soon afterwards, we published a complete overhaul of Ash on Android with KONAMI, updating it to include HD graphics, a brand-new battle system, and tablet support–bringing Ash to an entirely new audience with significant enhancements over the original.. Built entirely in the Unity engine, we’re now ready to show-off our work on Ash by bringing this remake to multiple new platforms!

To get the game you can pick it up now via iTunes.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Delayed

News came today that Ni No Kuni has been delayed for the US.  Sad Face. On the upside, there is localized trailer out now!! YAY! If you don’t know what Ni No Kuni is here is a quick run down,

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a heart-warming tale of a young boy called Oliver, who embarks on a journey into a parallel world to become a magician in an attempt to bring his mother back from the dead. Along the way Oliver makes new friends and adopts many of the wonderful creatures that inhabit the world, raising them to battle other creatures on his behalf as he takes on formidable enemies.

The unique fantasy adventure is developed by LEVEL-5, the studio behind the smash hits Dragon Quest VIII and IX, and the Professor Layton series.  For the game’s characters and animations, LEVEL-5 collaborated with the legendary Studio Ghibli, the team responsible for countless anime masterpieces including My Neighbour Totoro, Castle in the Sky and Spirited Away.  The in-game music comes from the hand of Joe Hisaishi, the composer of the scores to over 100 films including many of Studio Ghibli’s greatest productions.

PAX East 2012: Capybara Games

I got to do a quick swing by Capybara Games while at PAX to check out their games.  More importantly I wanted to check out Super T.I.M.E Force and Sword and Sworcery.  They announced that Sworcery is going to be coming to PC, which is awesome! I loved Sworcery on my iPhone, but I’m sure that I’ll love it even more on the PC!  They also had a vinyl album withe the game soundtrack for sale with a print from Pendleton Ward (Adventure Time). I kinda wish that I picked it up at PAX, but I heard that it’s available online here.  I didn’t get a chance to play Super T.I.M.E Force because it was very packed at the booth but I did get to watch, and it looks awesome.  I really can’t wait for it to come out because it looks like a shit ton of fun!

From what I watched you can save a past version of yourself (that has already died), granting you a life back. It’s kinda like a mini checkpoint rather than starting from the beginning over and over again.  There are different types of characters, like a gunner, sniper and defense based character.  From the looks of it there is a lot going on, on the screen and you will die a lot, but it’s not too bad cause you can save yourself!

Super T.I.M.E Force is slated for sometime this year on Xbox Live Arcade. Capybara Games is looking into incorporating some sort of co-op mode which I hope becomes a reality because it just screams online co-op!
