Review: VTech Kidizoom SmartWatch

The Apple Watch won’t be on shelves for a few months, but parents know their children will be begging to get their smudgy fingerprints on it! Instead, parents can arm kids with the first smartwatch just for kids, VTech’s Kidizoom Smartwatch.

PROs:

  • Color options for the watch are pretty good (white, green, pink, and blue)
  • Camera quality isn’t too shabby
  • Battery life is about 1 day, depending on the amount of use it gets – and its rechargeable
  • Splash proof – don’t go dunking the watch but if it gets a bit wet you’re safe
  • Touch screen is responsive, I was expecting a delay but nope!

CONs:

  • Parental controls don’t allow the parent to set a password, so if your child manages to get to the Parental Control menu option and can read fairly well like Mini Bifu (they can figure out how to get into that section)
  • Needs more games for the watch – currently only has 4 (hopefully more to come)
  • Would have preferred a cover over the camera area – one crayon in that area and I feel like its done for
  • No internal memory for the clock – seems like every time I powered it off and then on –  I had to keep setting the clock and date
