Review: BattleBlock Theater

I feel like its been forever since Behemoth released news about BattleBlock Theater, their latest title.  It is a great storyline about a bunch of shipwreck people that get kidnapped by cats, and are made prisoners that have to perform in the cat’s sick and twisted theater, just to save your friend Hatty Hattington (who’s been taken without saying too much, not going to spoil it for you).  I know it sounds crazy strange but it works because its Behemoth.  I’ve already made it through 5 chapters, not sure how many there are but I’ve uploaded some of my games to YouTube.  I didn’t want to put them in the review because I didn’t want to spoil the story for you guys.

Loves:

  • The jams – the soundtrack for this game is incredible!  I find myself just sitting in areas just to hear the soundtrack!
  • The characters – and the unlockable prisons that I have to save
  • The narrator and the hilarious “side commentating” he does
  • How the game trolls you – I know that sounds weird but I love how the game totally trolls you and makes you want to do better.  Gotta get those A++’s!
  • Furbottom’s Features – prepare for the worse
  • If you’ve played Castle Crashers (which you should) or Alien Homind (which you should also) you can play those characters in BattleBlock Theater
  • You can play Hatty Hattington in Castle Crashers!

Hates:

  • It’s not on PSN yet, since most of my friends are on PSN and not XBLA (surprisingly)
  • Level Editor doesn’t really tell you how to get other people’s levels (unless there aren’t yet?)

Other than those two comments – I love this game and there is not much that I hate about it.  If you we’re not sure about getting it I totally suggest it, unless you wanna wait til the PSN version (which of course we don’t know if that is even going to happen).
