Review: Anomaly (Graphic Novel)

This book is awesome, I got to see it in action while at NYCC 2012, as well as meet Brian too.  We got the opportunity to get a copy of the book before it releases, although I haven’t gotten through the entire book yet, I can’t wait to finish it!  I thought that I would throw up the review now for those people that are still debating on whether they are going to get the book or not.  Anomaly, is an epic science-fiction adventure, that is a 370-page hardcover book with a complimentary stand-alone tablet app narrated by some of the best-known actors in science fiction and video games.

The book is based in the future, EARTH 2717:  The 3rd Golden Age, on a planet called Anomaly. On Anomaly where technology doesn’t work, the terrain is lethal and the creatures even more so, Jon (the main character, who was dishonorably discharged from the Conglomerate’s elite Enforcer Corps) quickly learns he’s not the man he once was. Dark secrets surround the various species that call this world home. Jon’s actions here have the potential to ripple across the void of space, and touch everything in it.  But when Anomaly sprouts synthetics-eating viruses, flesh-eating mutants and deadly magic, it becomes a race against which form of death will come first. Who will survive? Who will return?

With that said, here is our review of Anomaly.

Loves:

  • The longest full-color graphic novels ever published!!
  • Free iOS augmented reality app
  • Story is awesome!
  • 3 more books already in production (no release dates yet)

Hates:

  • How big the book is, let’s just say this book is not the portable type.  I hope that they do make a more portable version, I would love to read this on the train.  However at the same time I don’t know if I could see this book in any other size, because of all the awesome artwork in it.

There are a bunch of places where you can get the book, it retails for about $40 USD, depending on where you end up getting it.
