The cost of a Logo/Branding

Do you ever think of how much a logo cost someone? It’s just a bunch of lines, art and words, etc. But its the companies main identity to ‘grab’ you and leave a lasting impression on you. Check out some of the costs involved with some of the best known logos.

Surprisingly, with Google’s worth estimated at about 200billion USD – their logo only cost a mere $0USD. How? Co-founder Sergey Brin created it in ’98 and for the most part the general styling stayed.  Logo cost – $0USD

 

Here is another logo that has not changed [aside from the removal of the word Nike] since its creation by a graphic design student Carolyn Davidson in ’71 commissioned by  co-founder Phil Knight. It only cost them $35USD.  Twelve years later, Carolyn Davidson, was commentated for her work with a gold Nike Swoosh ring with a diamond and a undisclosed amount of shares with Nike. Logo Cost – $35USD

 

Okay, $0USd to $35USD to $210,000,000USD for a redesign of British Petroleum [BP].

‘In 2001, oil giant BP commissioned creative agency Landor Associates, advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather and the PR consultants Ogilvy PR to replace their “Green Shield” logo with the current Helios symbol and create a surrounding identity and campaign. Designed in a green and yellow sunflower pattern, the logo represents energy in its many forms and comes with the tagline “Beyond Petroleum”. The cost of this re-branding procedure? A mere $211 million USD…’  Logo Cost – $210,000,000USD
