Kindle Fire vs. Apple iPad, which to get?

So I’ve been shopping around for quite some time to get a tablet.  With the announcement of the Amazon Kindle adding support from Netflix, Pandora, Zynga right off the back, it got me wondering. There are so many different pros and cons with both hardwares, so I thought that I would bounce my thoughts off you guys, and get some feedback. So here we go…

PROS:

Kindle Fire

  • Cloud Server
  • Price point ($199 USD)
  • Amazon’s Lending library
  • Able to borrow books from New York Public Library for FREE!
  • Silk Browser, Flash supported

Apple iPad

  • Plenty of app support
  • Camera, both front facing and rear view
  • Wifi and 3G options (if you really want that)
  • Bluetooth
  • You can jailbreak this badboy
  • Able to borrow books from New York Public Library for FREE!

CONS:

Kindle Fire

  • No external storage slot anymore
  • Smaller screen than the iPad (but does that really make a big difference its only 2 inches (give or take))
  • No camera
  • Only Wifi option
  • Battery life on this is a bit less than iPad (about 2 hours)
  • New hardware – so no one really no one knows what can be done with it yet, until its out in the wild.  Hoping for a rooted version or a jailbreak in the works.

Apple iPad

  • No Cloud Server
  • iPad specific cord – like really?!?
  • Price point ($499 USD)
  • Browser is meh
  • No Flash support
For now there is no real winner, although I think I’m leaning towards the Kindle Fire, just because of the price point and the cloud server options.  There is no way to know until it gets released next week.
